newtwork card disconnected

I am running a Dell M50. It has an internal 802.11b & a 3Com network cards. I disabled the 802.11b, and added a plug-in 802.11g card. When i do this, the 3Com card becomes disconnected.

How can i resolve this? I need the 3Com card for license management of software that i run.
