My customer has 9 pcs on a peer to peer network. All networking hardware is 3com. As I updates the systems to have a 3com NIC & now I can’t seem to get connected to the network. I have removed the card & software then re-installed w/o success.
-Also re-installed win98
-Adjusted all network settings
-The NIC has the green conn light on
I am at my wits end with this problem. I even changed the PCI slot hoping that would help, nope.
The only thing it does when you open the network neighborhood is show it’s self. Mean while the other PC’s are all working on the network. Reboot the server & other systems and still nothing.
The only thing different that I notice in the networking properties is the TCP/IP protocol installed is generic (TCP/IP). When all the other systems are installed with a (TCP/IP 3Com 3C450 NIC).
When I tried to make changes to the TCP/IP Protocol, I would get an error like (The file installed on this system – EMM386.EXE – will not allow this function)???? Thisis when I re-installed windows w/o success.
Any help or assistance would be great.
