Okay, I must be missing something here. I have a Netware 5 server running on a Dual PPro 200 system. I have two NICs in it, one a DEC 21040 connected to my cable modem and a Cogent EMPCI 10/100 NIC (DEC 21140 chip) connected to my Digital Multiswitch 300. All of the other devices are working at 100mb ethernet (using the same Cogent cards). The card in the Netware server will only run at 10mb.
I have gone under boards and set it to run at both 100mb and to autosense. When I do this, it losesconnection with the rest of the LAN (though it shows as connecting to the switch at 100mb).
I get no errors when the network re-initializes on the Netware server…I simply cannot connect to it or ping it from a workstation.
I completely power cycled the server (first time it has been down this year). I swapped the cable and it made no difference. I verified that the port on the Multiswitch was set correctly in the ClearVISN monitoring software. I swapped the NIC for another that was successfully running at 100mb and it exhibited the same symptoms.
Any idea where I should go from here? Know what’s tripping me up? Thanks in advance for any assistance!
