Nice machine. I think DEC had a laptop like this before they were taken over by Compaq. After the M300, Compaq released the Evo N400C, which had a similar form factor, but replaced the keyboard with a better one and added an on-board battery (the fold-down battery was optional and could be added to increase overall run-time). I’ve had the M300 and subsequently the N400c, before moving to the Dell Latitude 430.
