I'm using two different NICs running at different speeds on a network. the speeds are 4mbps and 16mbps. What would you use to make sure the network is functioning smoothly

Don't you have some multiplte choice answers for us?

by Oz_Media In reply to NICs

It sounds like yet another homework question but you have left out the multiple choice answers.

Why would ANY company be running NICS in 2005 at 4 and 16mbps, sounds like an OLD test question to me.

If not, you might want to try posting in teh Technical Questions and Answers forum instead of Discussions.

Token ring.

by tbragsda In reply to NICs

This is a token ring question from a test.

Well, start with two nics runnning on the same segment at 4 and 16 will not work.

HAHA I love it..

Here are your options...

A) Actually STUDY for your test instead of mooching for answers

B) If you are taking a class for this, ask your teacher..that's what you pay him/her for.

C) If this isn't a test question (however unlikely) you should live in the now, ditch the ancient technology and spend 40 bucks on a full duplex capable 100mbps nic.

D) see A

Why is it...

That homework questions always smell like homework questions. Maybe if they tell a tall story and elaborate a bit, they might get some solid answers out of us.

Its the last sentence that gives it away.

by tbragsda In reply to Why is it...

"What would you use to make sure the network is functioning smoothly?"

How about if it would have been. "I have a 4mbps card, a 16mbps card, and I keep raping ports. What would you do to make this network work?"

a) Upgrade to thicknet.
b) Transport my self forward to the year 2000 (are there jetpacks yet?).
c) Move to second world country.

OK, now C makes me feel bad. If the questioner really has a token ring problem, please post back, as I have years of experience with it, and quite frankly, love it.

Definitely a give away

by Oz_Media In reply to Its the last sentence tha ...

That's the part that made me think twice about it.

"I am trying to figure out how long it will take me to get from Seattle to Vancouver at 55 miles per hour?
How would YOU figure out if Billy left Seattle for Vancouver at 55 miles per hour...?" LOL

Ha ha

I know. I read that and laughed. As if they are still using that crap in A+ and Network+ modules.

u, must be to upgrade your system, example used NIC 10/100mbps and upgrade your cable connection(UTP)cat 5 or cat 6 , its can support to 100Mbps - 1Gbps

He doesn't have this network at all. I hope that nobody has this network.

His homework is late, and he can't bother reading the text to an appropriate level of comprehension.

Then again, you're probably just being sarcastic anyways.
