No Access at all!

by harrischr . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

Okay, here’s a stumper. I have a user who is running Windows Vista on an HP Pavilion dv6000. There was a checksum error at a reboot and now it will not give me access to anything. This is the only error he reported. The computer seems like it’s booting up, the CD drive spins and light flashes, but the screen never turns on and then it just shuts off and tries to reboot. Yes, I have tried a different monitor that I know works. I have no access to BIOS or anything, I’ve tried pressing all of the relevant “F” keys. I’ve tried to boot from the Vista CD, and Ultimate Boot Disk CD. My only thought is that the motherboard could have gone bad. Does anybody have any ideas or need more information for ideas?
