No Boot Device Available

By acctjob_3125 ·
Hello All,

My laptop with XP got this message:No Boot Device, F1 to reboot or F2 to setup". I went to setup the Hard drive shown. I don't remember if this cause by update with SP2. Any assistance will be appreciate.

I would say that is an issue with your hard disk as the BIOS is reporting that issue.

I would say either the hard disk isn't seated properly.

The IDE controller has failed.

The BIOS setting is not correct.

AS your operating system hsa not yet loaded, it is the BIOS that is reporting that issue.

This site has some excellent troubleshooting steps:

Today, I did a very stupid thing that I reinstalled XP professional but forgot to share the datadrive where stored all my data & only I have access to it. After I reinstall XP, I setup myself a same account and password as before but still not able to access to the datadrive. Thank you in advance for anyone's assistance.
