No CD-ROM drive

Hi
I have just cleaned up my HDD and installed Win98(se), on A P 166 32MB RAM.
the previous OS was Win98.
The problem is that i can not see The CDROM Drive when i dblck my computer.
The light of the CDROM Drive comes on when i power the PC, andi have checked all the cable connections, which seem to be OK.
Any suggestions please?
