no connect to the internet or ping pc's

By Casemaker ·
Hi,
I cannot connect to the internet or ping to or from the router or other pc's over network. Windows 98SE device manager shows working card. I also tried another card and still nothing. I have uninstalled winsock and winsock 2 from registry and uninstalled TCP/IP and reinstalled.
Any thoughts?

Are you running Windows 2003 Server by any chance?

I've had similar problems with Win2K3Srv because it would seem that Win95/98 support has been removed from 2K3Srv and they won't even recognise it for some reason. No one seems to be able to tell me why, nor do I know how to rectify that.. I'm in the process of upgrading the entire network to WinXP. (That requires Hardware Upgrades in most cases).

So, your running 98 right?
Have you asked your Administrator to check the settings for your LAN card etc?

Give us some more details so that we might be able to guess whats wrong.. :)

Hi,
Thanks for your reply!!!
I run a P2P network with no server software. I formated and reinstalled and all worked fine.
