No Data.MSI file for re-installation?

By kelledes ·
I have several users that require re-installation of Office 2000. The origional version was installed from a network share that has since disappeared. Office will not uninstall, re-install, upgrade, change, etc.... without the origional Data.MSI file. Is there a way to turn off the search for that file, and allow me to re-install without it?

No Data.MSI file for re-installation?

There is no way to disable this process. The .MSI file is a batch file the tells the operating system specialized info (mainly references to the location of specific files and certain settings). You should be able to use any Office 2000 CD (as longas it is the same version) as a source for the .MSI file.

Ive seen this before, and all I had to do was put an administrative setup back on the network, share it, and browse to the msi file. To do an admin setup to a network folder run office setup with /A switch.
