Similar to a previously asked question. I have a W2K network with an RIS server installed & configured and this has been authorised on the LAN’s DHCP server. Ticked the “respond to clients box” and the Intel pro ve has a compliant (read newish) pxe rom.
Have copied a w2k pro image (with integrated sp2) to Remote instal folder and all is ready to go except the client never gets a response from DHCP for a lease. Have tried prestaging, not prestaging and triple checked everything according to MS’s white paper and all other ‘normal’ clients on the same LAN are renewing leases fine as they expire but RIS will not talk to the clients I have played with. No DHCP, RIS or DNS error messages in event logs.
Suggestions??
Is the order of events important?
eg. Does installing/configuring RIS server then authorising in DHCP (or vice versa) make a difference.
Thanks in advance
John
