No domain controller found for this doma

By mercadg ·
When I try to use the User Manager on the PDC I get the message "No domain controller found for this domain". I can use User manager from another server or workstation but not from the PDC. Any ideas?

The user which is logged in do not have enought rights to access the user manager for domains.
If with the same user you can did it from a wks, the problem is that the user cannot log on locally so he is logged to the server insted of the domain.

Hmm.. maybe the server has a bad ip address. I've had workstations get corrupt TCP/IP or other protocols. Maybe try uninstall & re-install. You can kinda troubleshoot using nbtstat command. Do an nbtstat ? in DOS to see all the options if you're not familiar with it. If the PDC isn't registering in nbtstat, then it could definitely be an IP problem. If nbtstat doesn't load, then I'd re-install TCP/IP.

Just some suggestions. I'm sure you'll figure it out. You always know more when you're there & it's your problem.

Good Luck!

First check that the WORKSTATION service on the P.D.C. is running if not then start it and retry, If still not working it is probably a security ID problem with one or more machines. To check that the machine accounts are still ok for the ALL machines, Run server manager on each server and check any B.D.C.s and the P.D.C. for NETLOGON errors in the event viewers. If any machine accounts have any problems then stop the netlogon service at each machine and at every Domain Controller remove the problem server(s) from the domain, Then starting at the P.D.C. add an account for the netbios names of each machine and start the Netlogon service, Repeat this at every server. This will have generated new accounts and security IDs for all the serversand hopefully have resolved the problem
