No Drive Access for Specific User

By TPCosmo ·
Hi,
I have a single user that gannot get access to two folders on my nt 4.0 server. I have checked all the permissions on the folders, and associated mapped drives. With the group 'everyone' set to full control, the user cant get access. Even with the user's permission set to the 'domain admin'he still cant get in. Any Ideas?

Watch the user log into his workstation, and make sure he is logging in as the domain user for your domain, not a local user. If he is the local user and his user name and password do not exactly match his domain user name and password, he will not get access.

A way to check this: Put the user in domain admins. Create a separate folder that ONLY domain admins can access, have him log on, then try to access THAT folder. If he is not getting the domain permissions, he will not be able to access it.

You should also check the original folder for any specific permission denials. If, for example, you have a group named "goons" which you have denied access to the folder (by setting "no access"), if the user is in this group he will get no access, even if he might have access through the "everyone" or "domain admin" group.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help..but thats not it. I only have Two groups to to set the permissions for. 'administrators' and 'everyone', and have no groups with 'no access' permission.
I have logged on as the user, and know that when in the domain that he has no access. Thanks anyway.

I would say that it is a permissions problem. However, if you only have the 2 groups then I highly doubt it. Try this though. Create a third group that has rights to only those 2 folders. Add him to that group and then see if he can get to thosefolders. If not you may be looking at a corrupt profile.
