No drive letter using SonyCDRW with XP

By olsenbanden2 ·
I installed a Sony CDRW in a computer that runs Win XP Home. The drive is found during boot but it does not show up im My computer or Explore. I can type the drive letter that it should be and then I can see the cd that I have in it. I've never seen that before. I hope that someone out there have see this and can help me. thanks

You need to provide more information in your Question so that you question is address properly:

I personally would like to know if the Drive is Internal or External.

If it is Internal is it IDE or SCSI. If external Parallel/SCSI/USB.

What model is you CDRW.

From the information you provided I would recommend you go to the manufacturer of the CDRW in this case sony and see if there are flash rom updates for that drive and windows XP.

Good Luck,
