No file downloads

By cruffin ·
Recently, I've found that when I try to download a file from the 'net, using IE6, XP Media Center, as soon as I click Save File, I get kicked off the web site I was in, and the file is not downloaded. I can however, run the file from the site. I'm sure it's a security setting, but I can't find it. I have Spyware Doctor, ZoneAlarm, McAfee Security Center (comes with Dell) but can't find a setting that would prevent file downloads. I would think that something like that would prompt me, rather than kicking me completely out of the site.
Any thoughts?

Should you not be right clicking and selecting "Save target as..."?

"Save File" only applies to a file you were editing, for example, I thought.

Are you up to date on patches and updates for your software? There are security settings in IE for down loading and what can run from websites. Check to see what your settings are in IE. Open IE, go to tools at the top, then internet options, security, custom level. Most are set at medium but some software like McAfee might set this to high which is the most secure but you can not do much on the internet.
