No Fixed Disks Present

by jdutrisac . Updated 23 years, 5 months ago

I have an enduser with a 40G fujitsu drive which
has 2 partitions. The enduser started getting boot sector error messages but decided to ignore them. The operating system is no longer being detected and when booting from a windows 98 boot disk the following error is reported:
“Windows 98 has detected that drive C does not contain a valid FAT or FAT32 partition.”
We tried running FDISK however we received the following message:
“No Fixed Disks Present”
We also tried GDISK but it also gives us an invalid error. We tried partition magic but it also gives us an error. We verified the jumpers and changed the cables – we tried putting the drive in another system but the same errors occur. When we tried to slave the drive it was not recognized by the system.
Also, when booting from a boot disk we do get to the c: prompt but it looks like there isn’t much information left on it and the d: drive is not accessible whatsoever. Does anyone have any ideas as to what else I can do to try and recover the information on this drive???
