Problem: Users connect with no issues at work. But when they take their laptops home suddenly none of them can get an internet connection (all are set dynamically).
This appears to be some kind of DNS issue. In their VPN connections, when I change the host name to an IP instead of friendly, the VPN connects and THEN they can get on the net, so apparently this allows them to hit our DNS server. I have flushed DNS and ran ipconfig /registerdns with no results.
I’m baffled.
Recent changes have been made to the office. They are on MPLS and they were getting their interent through our office. We installed cable internet and routed the net though their own conenction and reduced the MPLS traffic to intranet traffic. No changes were made on the machines. However, we added a secondary DNS server entry into the router because for some reason at the office, they were getting served DNS from here at HQ instead of from teh ISP provider.
Any suggestions or pointing would be greatly appreciated!
