I was messing with my cable configurations. While changing the jumpers setting one of my hard drives, I bent one of the prongs on the jumpers. The hard drive is no longer detected in the bios.
Can the bent prongs be the reason why?
Also, I have a eide dvd-rw drive and a cd-r drive set on cable select. The cdr drive is udma 2, and the dvd rw drive is udma 4. For some reason why, these drives cause my system to lag when coming out of standby. The system also lags when detecting the drives during boot. The drives workfine, but I really want to know why this happens. As you can see I’ve pretty much screwed up a hard drive trying different configurations to fix this. Any suggestions on this and now the probably dead hard drive?
