I started getting the blue screen of death on a Windows XP Home Edition. Eventually, I got
Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
I tried to repair it by using instructions on this site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545
(How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting).
Now, Windows starts. However, I get no mouse or keyboard. A file called Runner.exe can’t be started and I get the following message:
Runner filename (LogitechDesktopMessenger.exe) lacks a ‘-‘ (the app id separator).
I am not sure that the problem is caused by the logitech mouse and keyboard which came with the Dell computer I got because when I start Knoppix from a cd, I do have the Logitech mouse and keyboard working. I have not seen a solution to this problem anywhere online!!!
