There are two easy possibilities, first go into the control panel and select password icon and then user profiles and make sure it is set so so users can customise the settings. Also if it is an NT network, go into the network neighbourhood properties and then select "client for microsoft networks" if you have it and choose properties and make sure it is selected for "log onto NT network. If you dont have it or if it is a novel network, select add and service and then choose the relevent service. If you want more details email me

May be the network files damaged so please try reinstall the network environment by following this steps.

1. Provide win98 CD disk and network card driver disk to ready to reinstall.
2. Go to control panel and double click network icon.
3. Remove all network component in the system then reboot.
4. Repeat install all necessary network component then boot again.
