No Network Neighborhood

By gssp1 ·
I am trying to configure Windows XP Home Ed. to netwok peer-to-peer. File and prin sharing is enable and a the Shared documents folder icon indicates that it is shared. A printer's icon indicates that it is shared. I have disabled the firewall but whenever I try to view My Network Places, nothing shows. Then when I try to view workgroup computers, the system does nothing or I get a nor responding incation. What is my possible configuration problem?

Do you have the 'Client for Microsoft Networks' installed in Network properties?

Hi

You also need to make sure that TCP/IP is properly installed and that the addresses are in the same subnet. For example computer 1: 192.168.0.10, computer 2: 192.168.0.11 etc. Also make sure the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 is also entered. And, enable the guest account.

Good luck

Is the PC on the same workgroup as the other computers? Check in Start/ControlPanel/PerformanceandMaintenance/System [ComputerName] tab.
