no network now

By neg1053 ·
Hi folks, week 3 on this same Dell 2400, my only choice was to reinstall windows home XP, now it seems I have 3 copies. I can clean that up later, I just need to get online, the ethernet card is blinking, but is not found in the hardware setting, any ideas? the video card sucks too, everything is too big. I know, it's the little things that getcha!

So, go to the Dell site and get them. Very easy to find by model number.

Dell drivers

I did that, and all the drivers are there, but my ISP SAYS you can just unplug the modem, let it sit and then plug it back in and voila! you have internet, not happening on this Dell. I have limited connection; I just wanted to run all the updates before I give it back. oh well.

Called rebooting the modem.

Have your ISP run a line check. If that comes up clean, ask them if they have a way to check the modem. Modems do go bad. I went through three of them with Charter.

It might not be your computer that is the problem.

Thank you, but I'm online now with the same modem and ISP, but I might have an issue with Windows on the other Dell, might have 3 copies on same hard drive. will check that out.
