You can't simply set up a single Windows 7 computer and expect whatever other system exist within the network, to just automatically 'see' it.

What other computers are involved? How is this network comprised?

Typo!

One PC running win 7 home, others mostly run XP, one win 2K pc all ethernet cabled to a Cisco switch SRW2024. That switch connects to Linsys wireless router WRVS4400 to cable modem for internet access. Internet access is fine. All cabled pc's see all other pc's except the win 7 pc.

By that I mean - have you created your NEW network?

Try starting from scratch, running the Network Wizard on each machine - or have you already tried that?

network discovery?

Open Network and Sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Network and Sharing Center.

Check that network discovery is enabled along with anything else that you may need.

Windows 7 has a default Workgroup named WORKGROUP, check that it is the same name on each System.
