No Power Schemes

By frednort ·
Win XP with all service packs and updates.
I changed the power schemes by using "control panel","power options". I saved my new schemes then deleted the schemes that came with windows. Now the power schemes options are grayed out and I can't enter new ones. I have administrator privleges.
Thanks for any help

i suppose it won't let you do this in safe mode...
Uncle Bill sez this can occur in xp (after removing the schemes) if you have hardware with drivers that won't let windows hibernate. they mostly talk about video drivers and 3rd party power management software (i guess, like ups software or battery mgmt??) do you happen to have a laptop here?
i would start upgrading my drivers like video and nic and mouse and all my programs that might be related...
here is the article. there were others.
Unable to Use Power Management Features
