No sound

By outbiking ·
I have a computer with windows 98 se, that I have had to reformat the harddrive and reinstall windows 98 se. I have no sound, can not locate the driver for the card. Is there software that can detect this card and tell me what driver i need? The sound card is recognized but the correct driver can not be found.

I normally look at the sound card a nd identify the sound processor chip. Then download the reference drivers from the chip manufacture.

You can try the utility SoundCard:

Remove any spaces from the pasted link.

If you have on-board sound, you need to get the driver from either the motherboard ot chip-set manufacture.
