No Volume ICON in desktop tray.

By ht77 ·
My ISA sound card finally gave up with what Win98 was indicating as card BIOS errors. I purchased a new, no frils, PCI card (Sound Blaster PCI64. After fixing some IRQ conflicks with my video card, I got the card up and working; however, the volume ICON we all now and love is not in the lower right corner desktop tray. TO adjust my speaker volume, I must open the "Volume Control" program itself.

How do I get the tray table ICON back???

thanks,

Opwn the control panel and go to multimedia. At the bottom of the audio tab there is a check box for "show volume control on the taskbar". Check it and the icon should appear...

Right Click on My Computer --> Properties --> Device Manager. Open the plus next to Sound, Video and Game controlllers. Highlight and remove everything under it. Close device manager, and do a reboot. Windows should recognize and reinstall everything and replace the missing icon in your taskbar.
