Noisy phone line(s)

By tim.g.price ·
Any software or hardware solutions to noisy phone lines? I support remote locations outside the U.S. and have experienced some very poor quality phone connections. It's not feasible to run new phone lines. I'm currently using v.90 PCMCIA modems.

A lot depends on the source of the noise and where your international location is. There is not much help for a wet cable. On the other hand, if you are in Europe, there are modem flavors for some countries that do some kind of magic. Look at www.xircom.com and check out the international version of their pcmia modem cards.

Good luck.

I am VERY familier with your situation I ran Help desk for a company in South Africa for just over 2 years I was supporting South Africa Namibia and Botswand and while the lager cities and surrounding areas had generaly aveage line ,older areas and some of the smaller towns had poor quaility line.

The only thing is to use modem strings
You will have to play around to see which ones will work best
Try modemhelp.org or do a search on the net if you get stuck contact me I will be more than willing to help out with strings/suggestions.
Keep Well
