Nokia E5 is not getting paired with Toshiba laptop?

By neevee4 ·
My Nokia E5 (Symbian OS) is not getting paired with Toshiba Laptop (Vista Platform). The device pairs with all other devices and even other devices can access it too. so its sure that there is no problem in bluetooth settings of both the devices, but some conflict in connection between just these two devices. What may be the possible reasons of two devices not getting paired?.

Go into your phone settings...

And switch the bluetooth on, then switch on the bluetooth on your laptop. On your phone's bluetooth setting select "search" and then "pair". Then follow the insructions.

The problem occurs while pairing. i get a message saying "Service discovery failed" when paired, even though both the devices could detect each other. Also, i get this problem only when i try to pair my phone and laptop. Both works fine with other devices.

Check also your Bluetooth settings in Vista control panel. Here it is in pictures:

And let us know at which step this fails if it continues to do so.

Note that id your carrier modified the OS is some odd way, you may have to contact them.

edit:Full UG if you need it.

Thanks for the reply. Checked the 3rd link which u posted, yes its the same way i tried pairing. It works fine till step 15, my lap detects my phone and after selecting the device, if i try to continue clicking next button, instead of getting the next screen where i should enter the passkey to add the device, i get a message saying "service discovery failed" and exits. One thing as i said earlier, both the devices works fine with any other devices. Even i tried pairing my phone with windows7 OS laptops where it works without issues. It occurs just between these two devices.

Sounds like your bluetooth is on its way out...

Your bluetooth sounds as though it is on its way out on your laptop. Either that or it is going into sleep mode.
Bluetooth sleep modes info here (example):
http://www.althos.com/tutorial/Bluetooth-tutorial-sleep-modes.html

Get a bluetooth dongle and try that and see if that cures your issue.
