Norton AV

I have Norton AV 7.6 on my network now that is working fine, but my IT mangager purchased version 8.1. Has anyone upgrade to 8.1 from 7.6, any problems any recommendations? I just don't wanna try to fix something that wasn't broke.

We just did an upgrade not too long ago with the Norton Corporate version. I was hesitant too because even though Norton is pretty good at explaining things there wasn't much documentation on the upgrade procedure. I just plopped the new cd in and let it do it's thing. It checked for any existing versions and then added whatever it had to add/update. I checked all of the clients afterwards and everything turned out ok. Just do it! Ha-ha. Good luck.

Recently did the same upgrade and had a few problems but nothing major. One suggestion is not to remotely deploy it. It's a hassel but install from the console if possible. We did a 50/50 console/remotely push and the ones that were pushed are the one's we had problems with. Most of that was with the AMS service. Over all it was not to bad.

We did it a while back. Everything went pretty smooth. I had just ran into a problem with the clients because some of them were set to get there updates on a server on a different network. Then when i put them back to the correct one they got an error on Outlook. So make sure that you do a fresh instal on the clients and make sure they can connect to the appropriate server. I'm working on moving to Symantec Ghost version 8 now. Made a breakthrough today but now on my final hurdle getting the computers names not the default computernam001.
