Norton Clean sweep

By hstone111 ·
I am set up to run Clean Sweep on start-up. After the sweep is done, the computer locks- no controls work, not even C/A/D- I have to turn off manually. How can I get Clean sweep to run all the way through?

Well assuming that your OS Supports this version of Clean Sweep

Press the F8 Key when the BIOS Splash Screen appears and hold the key down till you either get a White on Black screen or the internal speaker starts going crazy.

When you get to the White on Black Screen using the Arrow keys highlight the option called Safe Mode then press enter open Windows normally in Safe Mode you will be given a prompt that you are in Safe Mode and then disable or remove Clean Sweep through either the Norton's Control Panel or the Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

When you have done this close Windows down and allow the system to restart. Provided there is nothing else wrong the system should now start normally.

I don't want to get rid of clean sweep, I want it to run properly. It did at one time on this OS, now it just hangs after completing the sweep. Ron

Maybe you need to update the software.

Are you allowing the OS to update regularly.

If so a new update may have created a compatability issue with Clean Sweep.

Check with Symantec to see if there are any patches or upgrades for your software.
