Norton Corp Edition

By Borg7of9 ·
I am installing Norton Corp edition 8.0 on a small network with win98/xp workstations and 1 win2000 domain server and one backup server. I installed the server version on the domain server, then I installed the console on the server and set this server to "primary"

Now I cant figure out how to view the workstations on the network and roll out the antivirus to them from the console. Also cant see how to configure paramenters like scans etc from the console. Can anyone provide me with the next steps? I am reading the manuals, but I can find a simple step by step quick start kind of guide.
Thanks

First off, to roll the Anti-Virus out to your clients automaticly, insert your setup CD for Norton. There is an option for rolling out the client to PC's. I normally copy the setup CD to the server and run setup from the CD when I need to roll additional clients out. This only works with NT/2000/XP Professional. Otherwise, you need to manually run a client setup from the original CD at each client (for Win98/ME/XP home). There will be a "Managed" and "Unmanaged" option. Configure the clients tobe managed and point them to your server. Most of Norton's advanced features controllable from the console do not function with anything less than 2000pro/XPpro/NTWKS.

With that complete, you can right-click on any client in the managment console(via the MMC) and click "All Tasks" to get a list of things you can do like initiate scans or set options. Master options can be set by right clicking the server and visiting "All Tasks".

it should appear once you run the client setup. you can also run the client setup from within the nav console -- there is a button towards the middle which will give the option to configure clients. you just select them from the lh pane, then on the rh pane, select the primary server and click add. one weirdness I have seen is where some clients do not appear if there was a previous version of antivirus installed on the machine prior to running corporate setup. In that case, the old version needs to totally be removed (including going thru the registry under intel landesk). then try again, it should appear.
to configure the scans, that is in the rt-click menu on the primary server name, you should see a bunch of choices (might have totool in one setting, like under properties, or virus scan), one being client real time scan, etc. i don't have it in front of me or i could be more specific, but you should find it with those clues. let me know any specific questions if this was confusing and i will clarify.
