Norton Corp Small Bus Password Removal

By sblades ·
I just got a new customer who fired their old consultant because of ineptitude and communication problems. He had installed Norton Corp. Small Business on their server and will not provide the password to get in and look at the config of the software on the server. (When you click on the Norton yellow shield, it asks for a password). I've tried all the obvious (symantec, SYMANTEC, blank, the server password, etc., etc.) and can't get past it. Symantec has no info in their knowledge-base which I can understand for security purposes, but I really need past this password. Can't find the original software to even know what version it is! Anyone know how to get past the Norton password? I may just end up uninstalling (if it'll let me without the password!!) and the poor customers will have to purchase it again. Thanks!

the passwords are encrypted so to be honest, there's no way you can recover it unless you have a platinum service contract with Symantec in which case you phone em, give em the appropriate info to identify yourself, your company, your software, and they will tell you how to do it.

Other than that you'll have to uninstall it AND thats no easy feat itself as NAV hangs on for dear life like Gator software. There are articles on Symantecs web site on how to uninstall NAV which isn't just clicking the uninstall button in add/remove programs.

here's a link to symantecs site for passwords http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/9d94c8571a91ba4788256bf3007f62b5/87e3b55ced98e75c80256eb00034e3e1?OpenDocument&prod=Symantec%20AntiVirus%20Corporate%20Edition&ver=8.x&src=ent&pcode=sav_ce&dtype=corp&svy=&prev=&miniver=sav_8_ce

here's a link on how to uninstall Norton Antivirus corporate 7.0 , 8.0, 9.0 http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2002031914291648?Open&src=ent_hot&docid=2002091210045148&nsf=ent-security.nsf&view=docid&dtype=corp&prod=Symantec%20AntiVirus%20Corporate%20Edition&ver=8.x&osv=&osv_lvl=
