Not able to get to the company website internally

by jason . Updated 18 years, 10 months ago

I have a domain named name.com and my website is hosted externally. I have a dns pointer created to point all traffic to www.name.com to the website. This works correctly. The only issue is programs such as quickbooks use there own email client and emails send to someone@name.com will not leave the external site. Also when someone types name.com in the address bar of IE they get nothing. When they type www.name.com they get the website.

I was worried if I created another pointer that traffic routed to the DC would not reach it because I pointed to and outside address?

The server is W2k3

Thanks for any help.
