Not able to view web pages ,IE

The machine can dial up, but not view. I have replace DUN, protocols, reinstalled W98, reinstalled browser. It’s got a strange IP when I print the route. I tried manually installing the gateway for tcp/ip but it still will not view. I work at a ISP and we’ve seen this frequently as of late. The only way we’ve been able to fix it is to format and start fresh. I’ve disabled everything in start up. It’s not a very good practice for us to format computers, so if anybody has any suggestions please let me know. It’s happened on different brand machines w/ different OS’s and I forgot to mention that it will not telnet either. I also tried typing in the actual IP instead of the www address and it still doesn’t work. Thank you and God Bless!

Remove the nic… and reboot …

In the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE–> System –> CurrentControlSet –> Services –> VxD –> DHCP–> DHCPInfo –> Remove everything under there.

Save and shutdown

Reconnect the nic

and re-install tcp/tp etc.

The only other suggestion would be try downloading the service packs to browsers and then look at Help–>About Internet Explorer and update the security to 128 bit,this would also apply to Netscape.
Some Web sites cannot be viewed unless to have high encyrption pack installed.

I appreciate it, but she was working fine for 6 months prior. It has the updated service packs already. I really appreciate it though.
