Notebook won't start

By markdleech ·
My NEC Versa C160 was disconnected from the power, it locked up, I shut it down by keeping the power button depressed for about 30 secs and now it will not start. This is my wifes computer so I'm in deep yogurt. I'm technically challenged, can anyone help

Sorry - what do you mean "was disconnected from the power"..

In what way was it disconnected? The detail is rather important.

If you felt the need to press the power button for 30 seconds - why

What made you do that?

Power cord pulled out

by markdleech In reply to Sorry - what do you mean ...

I pulled the power cord out out the back of the computer as I wanted to move it to another room. I kept the button depressed as the computer was locked up and didn't respond to ctrl alt del. (it probably wasn't 30 seconds, but more than 10) Thnakyou for your reply Mark

What if anything happens when you plug in the Mains Adapter?

by OH Smeg Moderator In reply to Notebook won't start

It is possible that the battery is flat and that there isn't enough power to start the NB or it's just as possible that by unplugging the way you did it damaged the Cord to the NB or even the M'Board.
