Notice something funny?

The front page's "featured articles" has been behaving strangely... almost as if there was an inhibitor in place on a certain thread, for the duration of a certain exchange of remarks...
I had to use the search, myself, couldn't see the thread listed on the front page either...
More sanitizing? Do they have a "mute" button on the monkey cage now?

I think the upgrade is

A bit like a new Windows release, a new interface where all your familiar features all look a bit different and are not quite in the same place, tasks that one uses all work a bit differently, some new feature that may prove to be useful if you can get your head around them, along with a few bugs that haven't been ironed out yet.

I know that Jason has been getting grey hairs over the various showdowns... they don't always look good.
So, I wonder if it's unlikely that they put in a "sanitize the appearance" capability.

Didn't want to comment over there, letting sleeping dogs lie and all :)

Allatime. What was the question?

by seanferd In reply to Notice something funny?

Yeah, I don't know, barely care. Until the system finishes the initial shakedown, I'm not paying any extra attention to "different" behaviors. It seems yet too unstable to bring forward new items until the established bugs and feature requests are closed one way or another. The bug-hunting just isn't as interesting as it has been in the past. And I can't be dragged away from my lovely user-scripted view of the site to check against TR-normal.

I went and got it, and greasemonkey, and firefox... sigh... and it's certainly easier to look at. I wonder if it's possible to take the "view more" - showing, and lose the blurbs... that would help.

Someone who understands javascript might.

While I do enjoy being able to page back further in the lists, the "view more" mode certainly would benefit from some tweaking. Having all the old bits of post data back would be nice, as well as killing the blurbiness.

I'd like to tweak the script a little in other ways, but have not looked into it yet. Far easier for me to edit another person's work, as I then have a framework in which to operate, and I can't write this stuff myself.

But I'll wait for the site design operations to settle down to a dull roar before looking at doing anything. Let the engineers do their thing. Waiting - I can do that!
