Other than looking at the status of printers, is there a way to see when a print has finished? something like a pop up?

Can depend on the printer driver, but in XP or Win2K...

1. Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar.
2. Click "Printers and Faxes."
If your Start Menu is in Classic mode, you will need to click
"Settings" and then "Printers and Faxes."
3. Click the File menu in the Printer and Faxes window that appeared.
4. Click "Server Properties."
5. Click the Advanced tab in the Print Server Properties window that appeared.
6. Check "Show informational notifications for local printers."
This will enable notification messages for printers directly connected to the computer.
7. Check "Show informational notifications for network printers."
This will enable notification messages for printers that are shared
on the network.
8. Check "Notify when remote documents are printed."
9. Click "OK" in the Print Server Properties window.
10. Close the Printers and Faxes Window

I had thought about that and it is set like that, but the popup does not appear. A printer icon appears for a while but what I am looking for is a popup for when the print finishes.
