Novel and Windows 2000 terminal server

By andrew ·
We are running novel as our main server that stores files and dose logins. We are trying to run windows 2000 terminal server so as the machines can run applications and windows in a multi session enviroment. This workes fine but when a client is running a terminal version of windows from the server, they then log into the novel server so as they can access files, they can read a write to there home directories and all the drives are mapped as normal. the problem is that they have full access tothe novel server when they are in a terminal session. why is this and what can we do to stop it.

Basically you configured the NW client on the W2K Server machine wrongly. It's login to the NW server seems to be in Admin context, while it should be in the context of an individual user session (and hence show only the homedirectory of that user and other stuff you want to show).
I give you more chances with the Novell client for NT/W2K than with the MS client for NetWare. Full details AFIK in the Novell documentation and probably also in the support part of the www.novell.com website.

Hope this helps,

I could suggest trying some things. First check the win2k terminal server to see what client (ms for netware or nw) was used to login on to the novel network, then check the rights of this profile. Next check the policies on the novel server and win2kTS server ie if you have nw policy that puts the user in the admin group on the win2kTS Sever. IF it does then check the admin group to see what rights the admin group has to the has as far as your novell servers are concerned.

I hope this helpsor at least points you in the right direction.
