What software different than ManageWise can I use in the helpdesk area to monitor servers and network. We have communication problems with server team. Need software to be very user friendky but as well very reliable! Thank you!

If money's not an issue, I like the first answer. Seems like the best solution would be to fix the communication problems with your server team. If you're running Compaq Servers, install the Insight Agents on the server (current version is 4.50) and install an Insight Management Console on your workstation. Mighty Powerful tool that's free...
Assuming you're using IP on all the servers, you could have something set up to ping them periodically. That by no means will be a guarantee that the server is up and functioning normally, but at least you'll have a fairly good idea if it's even upor not. Take a look at this page for the monitoring utility. I've used it myself.
I've found Darwin Collins' NCHKSTAT to be very helpful; you configure the basic "config" file to check SAPs and/or IP pings, then set up your base web page with the "tags" that you put in the config file.
From there, you output the results to your Novell web server, and operations/helpdesk can check and see what's up / down, and even when it went down or came back up fairly easily.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
