Novell Client and Windows XP

By rlatta ·
We are using a Novell Server 4.11 and Novell Client 4.83 with Service Pack 1. We have not had any problems with the client using Windows 2000, however with Windows XP after opening several Apps the operatoring system locks up with some users. If I remove Novell Client 4.83 this same user has no problems. After installing Novell Client 4.90 SP2 the OS is working well also. Now the problem is after logging on under Novell Client 4.90 SP2 I also get the Windows Workstation logon screen and must logon to the local computer as well. Under Novell Client 4.83 SP1 I don't get the second local logon screen, however I have problems using Windows XP Operating System. Any ideas out there?

Sync the logins

Right-click on My Network Places, select Properties, right-click on your primary LAN connection icon, select properties, highlight the Novell Client for Windows then select the Properties button, click on the Location Profiles tab, select the Default Location Profile, click the properties button, click on the Login Service Properties, select the Windows tab. Enter the Username and the Domain that you want to connect with. It helps if the password on the NetWare server and the Windows server are the same....makes for a seamless login. Hope that helps!

is that access to network shares are pretty slow.

You should also download the newest client from novell, last time I checked it was 4.** which is what I am using right now.
