Novell Client and WinXP

By KathyG ·
I have several users on a WinXP machine - after loading the client I don't get the option to switch between users. I had a fear that the client would take over the machine but was hoping if I could get through login to workstation only I would havethe option at log off or shut down to switch. Is that lost for good? If you know of any links on how (I hope) I can get that feature back onto the pc I would appreciate them. Thanks.

You cannot use the 'switch user' in a domain or under novell.

As soon as you join a domain or install the novell client you will lose the ability to switch users.

You can still switch users if you are only part of a workgroup.

I think this is for security reasons. What is it that you are trying to achieve?

Thanks for your response. What I was trying to do is use a home machine for family and also have it do doubleduty for vpn into work network. I can still do that but am limited to only the items running on ip that don;t need client software to access. I went ahead and set up my test network with a client machine to vpn into the work network.
