Novell Client for Redhat Linux 7.3

by Shanghai Sam In reply to Novell Client for Redhat ...

If you are using this with Netware 6, you've got it made. In NetWare 6, the client software is gone. All of NetWare's functionality is available through a Web browser, where users can access shared directories as easily as they view any secure Web site.

If you're using Netware 3.x 4.x or 5.x, the road is a little trickier, but it can be done (I have a Linux box on my Netware LAN). Since I only know you want to connect to the Netware Server, I am not sure exactly how much functionality or what features you need.

Here are a few sites that cover the topic quite well. You should be able to get what you need here.

for the software from Caldera:

ftp://ftp.caldera.com/pub/old-products/netware/

Instructions:

http://www.caldera.com/support/docs/netware/linuxclient/

http://now-well.sourceforge.net/linux/now-well/

http://cwrulug.cwru.edu/docs/netware-howto.shtml

(make sure to delete any spaces in the above URLs)

Also, here's my favorite Linux site. I found several articles here that were very helpful to me when I was just starting in Linux.

Good Luck!

Use ncpfs if you want to mount Netware 5.x and lower volumes. Netware 6 is speaks NFS. www.google.com, freshmeat.net for detailed steps.
