Novell groupwise replication in progress

By ginman ·
I am new to Groupwise and I am having the same
problem. Whenever I move a user from one
container to another container using move, it
moves the user in NDS and sometimes it moves the
user in Groupwise but, like you, when I click on
the user in either the Groupwise window or the NDS
window and select details in Nwadmin I get your
problem number 1. However, the user does get to
use their email. This replication process goes on
forever. There are a couple of accounts that were
moved before I got there, appox 2 months ago that
are still doing the replication.

Yesterday I moved a user from container 1 to
container 2 and the NDS move went fine. The
Groupwise move did not. The user is not in
Groupwise container 1 or Groupwise container 2. I
cannot even delete the user in NDS now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Gary

I have twoquestions: 1: Everytime I try to
access this particular user account I get the
message: "Unable to read GW information for this
object. Possible cause is GW replication still
in
progress" How do I clear this account? 2: A
users
GW account got deleted. How would I assign the
new account the old .db name?

You may find a solution to your first problem in Novell TID 10012049.

This is the safest manner in which to move. Ensure that the servers are functional with no abends and the POA and MTA are running. Go to the details area inside of the post office and move the GW account to the new domain. Than go and delete the NDS account, ensure that you only check delete NDS only. Than reset the NDS user up in the new container.

Novell has confirmed this can be a problem.
Before you move a user, be sure to run Mailbox/Library Maintenance from the Groupwise Tools utility found under the Tools menu in NWAdmin. (Provided you have the proper snapins installed for GW administration)
This is little help, of course, after the problem, but the best way to correct the existing problem is the following:
Close NWAdmin, and create a null (empty) file under your root directory, and call it GWSUPP.FIL. The reopen NWAdmin. You'll now see under tools a new option, called Groupwise Diagnostics.
You can use this to remove "groupwise attributes" from the problem user. It will give you an error, but it does work.
Then run the maintenace on the user, and reassign his PO again. It should now work. For more info, research TID # 2941885 on Novell's support site.
