I just set up a small windows domain using Windows Server 2003 and have a curious problem. The setup is really simple and consists of a single server acting as a DC and also running DNS and DHCP and a few laptops and workstations. All “clients” use a wireless access point. The DC, the access point, and our ADSL router are connected by a regular switch.
Here’s the deal:
1. I can ping ALL hosts on the network from my domain controller (i.e. hosts that belong to the domain and hosts that do not).
2. I can ping the domain controller from ALL hosts on the network.
3. I can resolve ALL host names on ANY host, so DNS is working fine across the network.
4. I can ping hosts that do not belong to the domain from ANY host in the network.
5. Here’s the problem: Hosts that belong to the domain (except the DC) can’t “see” each other. They can resolve the host names all right, but I get “destination unreachable” when I try to ping. Very weird.
I’m stuck – can anyone give me a hint as to what might be wrong?
