Here’s the deal,
We have a small group of servers that are run by an antique NT 3.51 PDC box that is so underpowered I’m embarrassed to say its only a 150mhz CPU with 64 megs. Anyway besides the pathetic hardware, I think the OS is corrupt or something – it was chugging along and all of a sudden about 6 weeks ago (+/- 2 weeks) performance took a nose dive.. I mean a SERIOUSLY BIG nose dive…like going from logging someone in to the net in 5 seconds to taking 30-45 seconds on average to log someone in. (Btw, no software was added and network design wasn’t changed).
Anyway the point is…when I try to promote the shiny new NT 4.0 BDC to the PDC it says “Network Path Not Found”. Another odd fact…all servers except the two newest onescan’t “find” the current (3.51) PDC. I double checked network settings, you can browse all the client machines in network neighborhood but when you go through server manager its like NT 3.51 PDC acknowledge the two new NT 4.0 machines’ existence with the same “Network path not found error”.
What do you guys think?
