NT 4 polices on W2k Workstations

By jlittlejohn ·
I have a NT 4.0 Network (Server) with Win95/98 workstations. We use policy editor to control the desktop of our users. We have just added W2k workstations. How do I get control of the W2K workstation desktops (ie. hiding the My Network Places icons, disabling the mouse right-click button, etc.) using the policies that I already have in place?

I hope this is clear, if not please let me know what other information I need to provide.

Thanks in advance.

You can't use policies created in Win9x to manage W2k, you have to use policies created in Windows 2000 or NT 4. If you have the template files (.adm) that you used to create the original policies, you can open these in poledit on NT and create newpolicies. Save the new policy with the name ntconfig.pol (as opposed to config.pol for Win9x) and you should be right.
