NT 4 Server Build Sequence

By dzwinck ·
I am in the process of creating a standard build sequence for NT 4 Server.

Any suggestions, recommendations or best practice techniques would be appreciated.

(Keep in mind some servers will require IIS, some will not. I'm interested in a general build sequence and configuration including: page file size/location, default services to start, security settings, etc. Basically EVERYTHING incorporated in building a rock solid server.)

We use Compaq ProLiant servers and have numerous hard drive options to fit any situation.

Thanks

-Doug

A Place to Start/Finish

by mkatz6 In reply to NT 4 Server Build Sequenc ...

I just completed building a NT Web Server Yesterday & Know that a good sequence to follow is, load your NT server software, load your option pack then any other 3rd party software you need, then wait until the very last to load your service pack5 or6. Hope this sort of helps.

Option Pack / Resource Kit S4

by dzwinck In reply to A Place to Start/Finish

Is it recommended to include Option Pack on most servers? And Resource Kit S4? Anything else?

Are there any posted 'best practice' sites or microsoft white pages? I cannot find any.
