    nt 4.0 and iis 4.0

    Locked

    by yapa ·

Does anyone know if you can use iis 4.0 with nt 4.0? Or, do you need to upgrade to nt 2000?
(the above combination is causing server lock-ups, is this to be expected?)
    THANK YOU.

You should be able to install IIS4 with NT 4 no problems, you need to have at least SP4 installed, adequate disk space (with room to spare hopefully), to get file and folder based security you also need to to install it on to an NTFS partition.
So make sure your drives are formatted with NTFS.
Make sure you have enought free disk space.
      Install SP4 at least.
Run the setup for IIS4 and following the instructions on screen you shouldn’t be having a problem.

      Hope this helps

IIS 4.0 is for NT 40, if you want to use IIS 5.0, you need to upgrade to Windows 2000.

IIS4 can be installed on Win NT 4. You don’t need to upgrade to Win2K.
After you install IIS4 on your NT m/c, make sure that you re-install the latest Service Pack for NT. This should minimize the server lockups and also provides fixes for some well known IIS4 bugs. Check out these two links for the latest Win NT 4 Service Packs.
