For some strange reason, the computer browser on my Exchange Server (ver 5.5) on Windows NT 4.0 SP6a is unable to start. It will terminate with the following error in the Event Viewer :
Error Code: 2310 : The shared resource does not exist
Error Code : 7024 : The Computer Browser service terminated with service-specific error 2310.
Error Code : 8007 : The browser was unable to update the service status bits. The data is the error.
I am able to ping the server by name but could find the computer when using find computer or network neighbourhood or using net use to map to it directly. However the server can browse to other servers on the network.
I have tried to reapply service pack 6.0a and reinstall the workstation service which will reinstall Computer Browser service but to no avail.
The Computer Browser service on my Exchange server is critical because my backup server need to backup it over the LAN.
I need your expert advice badly. Thank you.
