NT 4.0 in W2k Server Environment

By Ted267 ·
Is there any way of making NT 4.0 Server a BDC while W2k Server of Advanced Server is the Domain Controller?

I believe as long as you run in mixed mode, an NT 4 BDC will continue to function as a BDC after the PDC has been upgraded to Win2K. Obviously, you cannot convert your domain over to native mode until all NT servers have been upgraded to Win2K. Hope this helps!

A Windows 2000 domain and a Windows NT4 domain are two different things (2K is running on Active the Active Directory database and all domain controllers have a copy of this database, although some perform Master roles [Domain Naming Master, PDC emulator, etc.]). Native mode provides some extra security and Dynamic DNS features which you don't have in Mixed mode. ie Not possible.
